There Are Blessings in Obedience to God

Writer: Yolanda BillingsleaYolanda Billingslea

I can tell you for certain that there are blessings in obedience to God, as I am witness. But don't just take my word for it, it says so in God's Word (the Bible).

In Luke 11:28 (GNT), it says, "How blessed are those who hear and obey God's word."

In Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (NKJ), it says, "If you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God..."

__________

Last night, as I was in prayer and spending my "before bedtime" time alone with God, which I do every night before I go to sleep, God revealed something to me about my life... something that was going to happen in my life (a big blessing) that literally brought me to tears.

Yesss... what God told me that He was going to do in my life caused me to cry, because I was like, 'my goodness God, as if you haven't done enough good things for me already. You just keep on blessing me.'

God is so loving and so awesome and I am really and truly just so overwhelmed by His love and goodness. I am. And that is what caused me to cry.

So, as God revealed more to me, and I cried more (happy tears), He also gave me some specific instructions. He told me to do something, and I told Him, "Okay dad, I'll do it in the morning." Because I was tired. I had cried happy tears, heard all that He had to tell me, and I was prepared to get into a good happy and comforted sound sleep. Lol.

However, God then reminded me that His blessings come as a result of timely obedience. And you know what? He was so right, and so I said, "Okay, say less", (Lol. yes I did tell God to 'say less') and then I got right up and commenced to doing what He had instructed me to do.

Friends, trust me when I tell you that I believe every single word that God tells me/every promise that He makes to me, because He is indeed a promise keeper and He hasn't failed me yet, and I know that He won't ever fail me because God's word won't fail.

The Word of God says, in Luke 1:37, that "For the word of God will never fail."

And in 1 Kings 8:56, it says "There has not failed one word of all His good promises."

Amen.

So, after I did all that God had instructed me to do, the last thing I did before I went to sleep (which wasn't until like 3:30am) was write down what God promised to me; what He told me that He was going to do in my life not too far from now.

I like to write down God's promises to me and then look back at the documentation/my notes and my thoughts and feelings connected to that moment after that thing (what He promised me) has come to pass because it reminds me of how faithful God is and how much of a promise keeper He is. And often times, I share what I wrote down with others in order to show them that God is real and that if you have a relationship with Him and you abide in Him, and you stay in alignment with Him, He will tell you His secrets... He will tell you His plans for your life, and He will tell you so much more.

So, friends, that is it for today. I want you to be encouraged and I want you to stay connected to your source of power and love and your source of wise counsel and direction, and that is God.

God loves you.

Love and peace,

Yolanda Billingslea (Ms. B)
